Qigong Video Interview-“Create More Energy In Your Life”

Qigong Video Interview-“Create More Energy In Your Life”

This is a replay of a Qigong podcast interview “Create More Energy In Your Life” conducted by my Chinese medicine practitioner colleague, Lucy Townsley, who started her own podcast on women’s health in January 2022. She has interviewed a number of fascinating, knowledgable experts about many health matters affecting women and I was fortunate enough to be invited to speak on her podcast.

In this Qigong video interview I emphasise my passion and belief in equipping my clients and Qigong students with tools which they can use to manage their health for themselves. These “Qigong tools” encourage you to take responsibility for your own health, giving you confidence and empowering you so that you no longer feel helpless when it comes to your state of health.

Main Points

In the podcast I explain to you how to:

  1. Annihilate Anxiety
  2. Extinguish Exhaustion
  3. Minimise Mind Chatter
  4. Help Boost Immunity

Qi Gong is a different type of exercise where you don’t force your body to move. You use your breath and mind to lead the body’s movement. This can be helpful if you suffer from pain.

Breathing is a huge part of Qigong. When you breathe in deeply and feel the belly expand out. The diaphragm will then move in different directions, sideways, forwards, backward, up, and down. The benefits of breathing are huge… Breathing brings energy to your body called Qi in Chinese Medicine. Breathing in and out of the nose helps calm the mind and helps with anxiety.

Do you have a place in your body that is painful? If so, I explain how breathing into the area can help ease your pain.

In this podcast, it’s made very clear that anyone can learn how to turn their health around. You can be in control of your life. Once you start on this journey it helps ease any worry of future health concerns.

The most important takeaway for you from my Qigong video interview is to understand that change can happen by allowing rather than forcing things unnaturally. Many Qigong students put in too much effort rather than simply enjoying and observing their practice. 😊

Lesson 31 – Qigong Recharge Exercises (Replay of Live Qigong Class)

This is a replay of a live session showing you a Qigong routine for Spring, taught by myself, Dr. Janice Tucker. I have been teaching Qigong for two decades and am the founder of the Space To Relax Programme of Qigong video lessons. I’m also a practitioner of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Qigong Recharge Exercises – Introduction

This video shows you a quick way in which to replenish your energy levels in situations where you have no opportunity to rest or perform a full Qigong routine. This method is called “Embracing The Tree” or “Standing Like A Tree” and can actually be performed sitting or standing.

Benefits include:

  • Energising your body;
  • Massaging the internal organs by creating conditions for improved Qi flow;
  • Calming your mind;
  • Developing physical strength and stability in your legs;
  • Improving your balance;
  • Creating the conditions for open and free flow of Qi in order to smooth any areas of Qi stagnation which can manifest as discomfort or pain.

Method for Qigong Recharge Exercises

  1. Begin by taking a comfortable standing (more on Qigong stance here) or sitting position (more on seated Qigong here).
  2. Settle into your practice by relaxing your body and mind with Abdominal Breathing.
  3. Raise your arms into the “Embracing The Tree” position.
  4. Stand like a tree for however long is comfortable for you (3 minutes up to 45 minutes for more experienced practitioners).
  5. As you are standing, use your mind to extend down into the earth, as though you are a tree growing roots. At the same time extend your mind up to the top of your head, opening your crown to allow Qi from above to enter your body. Feel a heavy, grounded sensation in the lower half of your body and lightness from the waist up.
  6. Perform the “Circles” exercise three times to smooth the flow of Qi in the four directions.
  7. Consolidate your practice with a few abdominal breaths, taking time to observe any changes in the state of your body and mind.

Integrating Qigong Recharge Exercises Into Your Day

Perform this whole routine, or only part of it, whenever you have a few minutes. This Qigong method works in situations where you may feel you don’t have time to rest and recover but your energy levels are low. Use it for only a few minutes in order to quickly give yourself a welcome boost! 🙂

Please watch the following videos I made previously which you could combine with this one:

  1. Exhausted? Qigong for Tiredness & Exhaustion.
  2. Develop greater balance using Qigong for Grounding.
  3. Strengthen your legs using Qigong for Feet and Ankles.

Qigong For Energy

Qigong For Energy

How amazing would it feel to be like one of the action or super heroes we see in films and TV? When you look at them you can sense their seemingly overflowing and abundant levels of energy. It’s as though they are bursting with it! Wouldn’t you like to feel like that? Unfortunately this is not the case for many of us mere mortals! More commonly we struggle with lack of energy (or total exhaustion). We have little or no motivation, feelings of stagnation or not moving forward with our lives. Often we have no energy to complete the simplest daily tasks. Thankfully we can use simple methods of Qigong for energy!

The consequences of low energy levels can have a huge impact on our lives. One person told me, “I feel like I’m not living life to its full potential”. Hopefully you are not feeling so exhausted that you are thinking these kinds of thoughts. However, if you are, or if you simply need a bit of an energy boost (and who doesn’t?) then the video on this page will help you. I’m going to show you how to use Qigong for energy so that you can at least go some way to feeling like Superman or Wonder Woman! 🙂

Why Do So Many Of Us Struggle With Low Energy Levels and Exhaustion?

Many factors affect the levels of Qi (energy) in our bodies. Our main sources of Qi come from:

  1. What we inherit from our parents (our “constitution” if you want to think of it like that);
  2. The amount and quality of air that we breathe;
  3. The amount and quality of food and drink that we ingest.

Our Qi can also be depleted in many ways. Too little sleep, stress, smoking, drinking alcohol, excessive exercise, excessive sex and many other pressures can easily leave us exhausted.

So what can we do about minimising our energy loss?

The Solution – Qigong For Energy

We cannot change what we have inherited from our parents in terms of our basic constitution. However we can do lots of things to improve the quality of air that we breathe, the efficiency of each breath and the types of food and drink we consume.

  1. Breathing. Make sure that you are breathing efficiently. Qigong has the perfect solution to this as it requires us to pay conscious attention to our breath. Breathing usually takes the form of what is called “Abdominal Breathing” (as you breathe in your belly expands and as you breathe out your belly shrinks) which is also extremely relaxing. This is a much more efficient way of breathing than “chest breathing” which most of us do. Abdominal breathing makes use of the diaphragm which pushes down as you inhale and increases your lung capacity. You are therefore taking in more air (good quality Qi) per breath which in turn gives you more energy.
  1. Food and Drink. Eating fresh, locally grown, organic if possible food will go a long way to improving your energy levels. Also, if you are someone who is lacking in energy and also feels cold a lot of the time, or if you suffer with digestive issues, then it is important to avoid cold, raw foods and eat warm, cooked food. This means you will not to put too much stress on your system by wasting energy digesting food that has not already been partially broken down by the cooking process.
  1. Rid Waste Qi (energy). Getting rid of waste Qi which we may have accumulated through stress, drinking alcohol, smoking, eating junk food etc. is important as waste Qi circulating in the body can leave us feeling exhausted. There are excellent methods in Qigong for the removal or “Discharge” of waste Qi (see below and also my previous blog on “Qigong for Cleansing“).

Learn 3 Qigong Tips For Tiredness and Exhaustion

Some of the most common things my students say to me are, “I’m exhausted”, “I have no energy to motivate myself”, I’m tired all the time”. How many of you find yourselves saying these phrases, or ones like them, out loud? In this video I’m going to show you three fabulous tips using Qigong for tiredness. None of them take more than 5 minutes for you to achieve the transformation from exhausted to energised so get ready to follow along!

3 Tips On How To Use Qigong For Tiredness

1. Abdominal Breathing

By using simple abdominal breathing for only a few minutes you can extinguish exhaustion and increase your energy levels. This is because abdominal breathing is a more efficient way of breathing. You inhale more oxygen per breath than shallow chest breathing and thereby increase your energy. See my previous video blog on “How To Do Abdominal Breathing or Diaphragmatic Breathing” to learn this.

2. Simple Stretching

See the clip in the video to learn how to do a simple stretch up to the sky. This is a very simple way of utilising Qigong for tiredness.

Also, a simple twist of the upper body, head and neck will energise your whole spine with Qi and give you a lift in less than one minute if you are feeling exhausted.

3. Qigong Face Wash

Rub your hands together until they are hot then place them on your face. Rub your face up and down with your hands until you feel the heat has left the hands. This simple face wash is excellent for ridding any mental tiredness. It will instantly leave you feeling more awake and alive!
