Qigong Healing Sound For Lungs & A Meditation For Grief – Introduction
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) autumn is the season associated with the Lungs. This is the season when our Lung Qi can be more challenged by coughs, colds and infections so it’s important to do what we can to optimise Lung health.
There are many Qigong methods that can help create the conditions for open and free-flowing Qi, blood and fluid through the Lungs in order to enhance their functions of healthy breathing, protection against infection, healthy skin and regulation of fluid metabolism.
The first method below shows you a simple “discharging” exercise to rid any waste of sick Qi in the Lungs which may be impeding free flow of Qi. The second is a lovely meditation to help you release grief and sadness (the associated emotions of the Lungs in TCM), resulting in a feeling of calmness and lightness in your body and mind.
Qigong Healing Sound For Lungs & A Meditation For Grief – Method
Use the “ssss” sound or the “Xia” sound to help discharge waste Qi from the Lungs. Repeat the movement and sound 6 times to each side, or for as long as it takes for you to feel a little freer in the lung area.
Follow my voice for a guided meditation which will help you to process the feelings of sadness and grief.
Consolidate your practice with a few abdominal breaths.

Qigong For Heart Health – Introduction
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) terms, our Heart system governs our circulation, blood pressure and pulse, influences speech, “houses” the mind to keep it calm and clear, allows us to get off to sleep at night and plays a role in our memory function.
A well nourished Heart manifests in healthy circulation and heart function, healthy blood pressure, a calm mind, and peaceful sleep.
An imbalance in our Heart system can result in blood circulation problems, palpitations, high blood pressure, anxiety, insomnia and poor memory.
The Qigong method I teach here shows you one of the 8 Pieces of Brocade (Ba Duan Jin) movements called “Shaking Head & Wagging Tail” which helps descend Fire (Heat) from the Heart system which commonly causes the symptoms above, down through the coccyx and perineum.
You’ll learn three different levels of this method, depending on which level of movement is available to you with the result that you will have one of these levels which you can incorporate into your Qigong routine or perform as a standalone Qigong exercise.
Settle into your practice with a few abdominal breaths to bring yourself into the Qigong state.
Level 1: Perform Shaking Head and Wagging Tail sitting with legs hip-width apart. This is suitable for wheelchair users and anyone with limited movement and flexibility.
Level 2: Perform Shaking Head and Wagging Tail sitting with legs wide apart. This creates more of a stretch in the groin and down the inside of the legs but is still gentle on the back.
Level 3: Perform Shaking Head and Wagging Tail from the classical horse stance position.

Qigong Energy Flow To Reduce Stress – Introduction
The big problem for many of us with modern day life is the amount of stress that it can cause us. Stress can lead to many other detrimental effects on our minds and bodies, for example:
Exhaustion;
Poor sleep;
Anxiety and depression;
More specific health problems such as fibromyalgia, digestive problems, high blood pressure and diabetes.
In terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Qigong, stress is simply due to a lack of smooth flow of Qi (energy) leading to:
Blocked emotions which cannot be expressed in a healthy way;
Stagnation of physical circulation and a consequent decrease in our energy levels.
How do we unblock this?
What we don’t do is try to force anything to happen as the stress of trying too hard can create even more stagnation of Qi and frustration.
What we can do is simply ALLOW our bodies to bring themselves back into a natural balance by creating the conditions by which our Qi and emotions can flow smoothly. When we do this, we don’t need to do anything else as the Qi will then flow to where it is needed in order for healing and revitalisation of your body and mind to take place.
The objective of the Qigong energy flow in this video is to:
Create conditions for allowing the Qi to flow smoothly;
Create physical and mental SPACE for healing.
The results of following this 15 minute Qigong routine can include:
A more calm and clear mind;
A revitalised and energised body;
Less mind chatter and more focus;
Improved sleep.
This is a perfect Qigong for beginners method if you are new to Qigong as it is easy to follow. However, it is a skill and, like any skill, is developed over time so please be patient with yourself if you don’t feel the flow when you first start out.
Qigong Energy Flow To Reduce Stress – Method
Settle into your practice with a few abdominal breaths to bring yourself into the Qigong state.
Relax your whole body a little more with each exhalation. Begin to feel your body swaying as your Qi begins to flow more freely.
Once you are comfortable with the swaying motion of your body perform a few “Circles” movements with your arms, allowing the swaying of your body to continue.
Consolidate your practice with a few abdominal breaths.

Qigong For Cultivating Love – Introduction
This is a fun Qigong practice in celebration of St. Valentine’s Day. In this video I share with you how to use Qigong to help enhance your energetic connection with others. The methods you’ll see here can apply to romantic relationships and/or relationships with family and friends.
Please remember that you can only invest your Qi in relationships with others once you have invested time in taking care of your own Qi first.
Qigong For Cultivating Love – Method
Begin by adopting the correct Qigong sitting or standing posture and performing a few abdominal breaths in order to first cultivate your own Qi (see more here).
If you are practising with a partner, open your eyes to look at them and smile at them. If you are practising alone, picture the other person in your mind’s eye, with your eyes closed.
Perform the chest/heart opening method to connect to your partner.
Press the palms towards your partner, sending Qi, joy, love, compassion (or whatever you choose) in their direction. As you bring your palms back to your chest, think of receiving what your partner has sent you.
Consolidate your practice by finishing with a few abdominal breaths, focusing on yourself and Dan Tian.

Qigong For Connecting With Yourself and Others – Introduction
This year has been challenging for many of us in that we haven’t been able to travel to visit friends and family because of the Covid-19 pandemic. We are still in the same situation coming up to Christmas. Many of us will not have the opportunity to be in the physical presence of our loved ones. For this reason I wanted to show you how to get creative and use Qigong to help with that! Qi is present everywhere; in your body, in nature and in the universe.
In this class you’ll learn how to use Qigong for connecting with yourself and others. Firstly, you’ll activate your own Qi to connect on a deeper level with yourself and then with others to send them kindness, gratitude and compassion.
Method
Begin by adopting the correct Qigong sitting or standing posture and performing a few abdominal breaths (see more here).
Twist your body from side to side and as you turn gently tap the point Zhongfu (Lung 1) under your collar bones with loose fists. This helps stimulate the Lung system which is associated with your Wei (defensive) Qi and the emotions of sadness and grief. Stimulating this point may therefore help boost your immunity and help you to process grief and sadness in the healthiest way possible for you.
Open and close the chest, coordinating this movement with your abdominal breath to create conditions for open flow of Qi around the chest and upper back.
Use the “Circles” method to encourage the movement of Qi in the four directions.
With your arms extended connect your Qi with others in your practice group, your friends or family.
Hold a ball of Qi in front of your body. Use your mind to share this healing Qi with someone you love. Send them kindness, compassion and gratitude for your relationship with them.
Finish your practice with a few abdominal breaths. Know that you can use this practice to connect with your loved ones at any time you choose.
Integrating Qigong For Connecting With Yourself and Others Into Your Day
You can take a few moments anytime over the course of the Christmas period to connect with those people you can’t see in person. All you need to do is quieten your mind and body to connect with your own Qi. Then, think of sending love, kindness and compassion to the person you have in mind.
Many other live lesson replays can be found on my blog page. I’d encourage you to take a look at some of them and find methods which you can easily combine with this one. A good example is “Qigong for Present Moment Living“. This lesson replay will help you to further connect and activate your Qi before sending it to your loved ones.

I’LL BE RESUMING LIVE CLASSES IN JANUARY 2020. Please share this information with your family and friends as everyone is more than welcome.

Qigong For Resilience – Developing The Skill
Resilience is our ability to face problems and stresses so that we can successfully navigate challenges in life. Think of it as a skill you can develop by using a toolbox of methods to draw on. Examples could be the strategy of talking and asking for help, spending time in nature, meditating, feeling the fear and pushing through it. You can add Qigong to your toolbox as further support in acquiring greater resilience, a quality which we could all benefit from in the current climate!
Qigong For Resilience – Method
Begin by taking a comfortable standing (more on Qigong stance here) or sitting position (more on seated Qigong here).
Settle into your practice by relaxing your body and mind with Abdominal Breathing.
Following along with the “Shooting Vulture” movement, one of the “8 Pieces of Brocade” method which you can find in my Space To Relax Programme of 50 Qigong videos lessons.
Relax the body and twist from side to side to perform the “Knocking on the Gates/Door of Life” method.
“Stand on Tiptoes To Rid the 1000 Diseases” movement which is fabulous for balance too (and another of the “8 Pieces of Brocade”).
Consolidate your practice with a few abdominal breaths.
Please watch the following videos I made previously which you can also use to help develop the skill of being more resilient to life’s challenges!
Previous live lesson replays are listed below and can be found on my blog page.
